Creating a class accountTwitter or Instagram are good excellent for this approach as students can create and share authentic voice and vision of what goes on within the day to day classroom. Twitter ChatsStudents might recreate a historical event like WW2 or the JFK assassination. A lighter note might include a fictional re-creation like the movie Back to the Future.
This definitely something that I am going to try with Canadian History students next year. Each group would be in charge of a conflict (WW1 from the home front) or a movement (rise of socialist parties in Canada, the struggle for equity for Canadian women etc.) |
Backchanneling
Backchanneling is the background hosting of conversations during learning. This conversation can add a layer of complexity and interactivity to any existing activity. It is an excellent way for encourage student voices that might not hear in traditional oral discussions due to shyness, indifference or even time.
