Alison JacksonAs you can see, I love monkeys!
I also love what I do... I am an Academic Advisor in the Community Studies programs at Sheridan College. I'm currently completing my last course in the Masters of Education program at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. I also have a degree in Sociology from McMaster University, and worked as a Social Service Worker for Ontario Works for 8 years before I decided to return to school and get my diploma in Information Technology. I love technology because the possibilities of what you can do with it are endless. I hope to start teaching soon at Sheridan, and I'm looking forward to being able to combine both my social work and technology skills with what I have learned from the Masters program, and incorporate it into my teaching and current role. |
Anthony ChuterI work as a high school educator specializing in Social Studies, Computer Science and Technology. Prior to this opportunity, I worked as Technology Specialist educating and collaborating with elementary and middle school students, teachers and the learning community. Life-long learning is passion as I work towards my Masters in Education and Digital Technology to extend my PLN and pursue academic goals.
My recent interests are computational thinking, programming, blended and online learning, flipped learning, mobile technology, game based learning, digital photography, eportfolios, social media, blogging, digital citizenship, digital media and digital storytelling. (Wow, that is a lot of digital terms! However, good pedagogy and learning has to come first.) I seek formal (academic) and informal (MOOC's, social media...) learning opportunities to continue my journey as both an educator and global citizen. Outside the classroom, I enjoy coaching, photography, soccer, tennis, baseball, basketball, snowboarding, playing guitar, reading, travel and spending time with my family and two tech-savvy kids. |

I have always had a passion for teaching. Whether it be hockey, horseback riding, fitness or in the class I am always looking for new ways to help people learn new skills and excel in what they do. I completed my undergraduate degree at Queens University and then decided that I loved Kingston so much that I wanted to stay to pursue my Bachelor of Education. In my last teaching placement at Queens, I went to teach at the International School of Tucson in Arizona where I ended up staying for almost 2 years. I am currently working as a full time teacher for the Upper Canada School Board as well as I am part of the Executive team for ETFO and I am Chairperson for my local's Professional Development Committee. Although I enjoy teaching young minds, I would eventually like to teach at the post-secondary level and do research related to curriculum development.

Oh hi there, I am a Learning and Development Coordinator with York Regional Police. My primarily responsibilities include designing and evaluating training programs that strategically align with the organizational business goals and objectives. Previous to this role, I was an E-Learning Specialist and a technology classroom instructor. I have been with York Regional Police for approximately 10 years.
My background with technology and my desire for higher education naturally led me to the MEd program at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. My academic focus is on integrating technology into workplace learning through problem based learning. With only three classes to go, I am eager to make a difference within my work community. When not working or learning, I enjoy spending time with my wife and two children. My hobbies include playing golf, home renovations, mucking about outside, and playing freemium games on my mobile device. |

I am a principal in York Region District School Board. I have enjoyed being an educator in the elementary division for the past thirty-five years. Previous to YRDSB, I was a teacher in Durham Region District School Board.
My passion for lifelong learning continues as I am a student in the UOIT MEd program, Leadership and Technology. What I take away from this academic environment will be shared with the teachers, parents, and community members of York Region. Innovative leadership and technology is a timely issue which is receiving more attention at both the district and parent community levels. I look forward to participating in professional learning opportunities so I can continue to learn about and contribute to the discussions regarding innovative educational leadership and the use of technology in our schools. |
